ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY DEPARTMENT

Samsun University Kavak Vocational School Electricity and Energy Department was established with the letter of the Executive Board of YÖK dated 09.09.1995 and the YÖK Approval letter dated 02.10.1995 and numbered 2080-19658.

When the Electricity and Gas and Installation Technology programs are successfully completed and the program qualifications are provided, an associate degree is obtained in the field.

Candidates must have a high school or equivalent school diploma and have received sufficient points from the YKS-Higher Education Institutions Exam. Candidates are placed with their TYT scores.

In order to obtain an associate degree in Electricity and Energy Department – ​​Electricity and Gas and Installation Technology programs; All compulsory and elective courses (for 120 ECTS in total) required to be taken in the program must be successfully completed, a 30-day internship must be completed, and a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Program Profile

The aim of Samsun University Kavak Vocational School Electricity and Energy Department is to meet the need for intermediate staff in the electricity and energy sector, to have the ability to identify, analyze and solve the problems in electricity and energy systems, to aim at lifelong learning and to apply what they have learned in the best way, to fulfill their professional, moral and social responsibilities. To train technicians who are knowledgeable, respectful to people, society and nature, compatible with teamwork and participatory.

Transition to Senior Programs

Candidates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can study in undergraduate programs if they get a valid grade from the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) and are placed by OSYM.

Exams, Assessment and Evaluation

Students are required to register for the courses at the beginning of the semester. In order to be able to take the final exam (final) of a course, the attendance requirements for that course must be fulfilled. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course. In calculating the midterm exam grade, scores obtained from measurement tools such as homework, lab exam, quiz etc. The contribution of the midterm exam grade to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points.

Graduation Requirements

In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to pass all of the compulsory courses (for 96 ECTS) and elective courses (for 24 ECTS) (for 120 ECTS in total), to achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and to successfully complete the internship.
